Anthropic anticipates unemployment scenarios for 2030 due to AI

 Amidst a controversial statement from one of its former employees, Anthropic is stirring further unease by releasing a report from its economics lab that outlines several future scenarios.



According to one of these scenarios, the AI's self-improvement capabilities would cause GDP to skyrocket, but unemployment would surge as well; one in five office workers would lose their jobs.

The report states that as AI spreads, annual GDP rises—potentially doubling the size of the economy—but the number of unemployed people multiplies, reaching levels far beyond those typical of a recession.
