Argentina announces sanctions against UK companies over the Falkland Islands (Malvinas)

 Argentine President Javier Milei announced a series of measures and sanctions against those "involved in the illegal exploitation of oil in the Falkland Islands," whether directly or indirectly.

Amid escalating tensions between Argentina and Great Britain, the Argentine president addressed the nation and outlined the following:


1. The creation of a military base in Tierra del Fuego, focused on the "Malvinas."

2. The creation of the National Security Council.

3. A new framework for the protection of critical infrastructure.


For his part, British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting affirmed that the Falkland Islands are British and that the UK's commitment to them is unwavering. He noted that a 2013 referendum resulted in a 99.8% vote in favor of the inhabitants remaining part of the UK.
